The Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 @ 2.70GHz is newer than AMD Opteron 254 and is significantly faster in multi-threaded (CPU Mark) testing and is significantly faster in single-thread testing. However, AMD Opteron 254 uses substantially less power.
